Where has the Proccessed icon gone?

Why would the "processed" icon disappear?

Processing 150 pics into jpgs. The icon showing "processed" is not there.

What has caused it to disappear?

  Do you mean the icon in the thumbnail? It appears when I am process an image. Maybe you can more details on your workflow and version of software. Are you using CO 8.1?

  Yup. I mean the one in the thumbnail.
  It appears when processing but disappears afterwards. Normally it shows as a grey gear wheel after processing.
  
  Running 8.1 on windows7 64bit.
  
  It has happened before. Not sure how it came right last time.
  
  Wait a minute!! Just seen this:
  I had a session running. That one shows the icon on the processed files.
  Then started a second session for another group of files in another directory. THAT one does not show the icon.
  
  any suggestions?
