What Does Automatic Focus Update Do?

Almost embarrased to ask but what does the \"Automatic Focus Update\" button do in the focus tab. Focus seems to update automatically whether this button is engaged or not. Been a user of CO for quite a while now just never bothered to ask and the documentation is rather general regarding its functionality. Thanks

  The round icon at the Focus Tool - Automatic focus update affects the Focus View display and not the Preview.
  
  Remember, at the Focus Tool within the Focus View window, what is displayed develops that selected portion from the RAW file. With the icon enabled, each time you change an image that same portion develops or updates. DisEnabled and changing images the developed portion or focus update does not occur. I reckon on some systems this may save time and effeciency.
