Default Settings Not Changing???
Hi All
Trying to change default settings.
Clicking on a tool in the left window pane . . . say Noise Reduction . . . change the settings from 50/50/50 to 40/40/40 . . . click on three dots in upper right . . . click on Save Defaults for Nikon D810 . . . Click Apply.
Then when I open a new D810 file it still shows the original 50/50/50 setting . . . it has not changed to 40/40/40.
Same with all the other tools . . . none of them are changing.
Tried closing the app and restarting that didn't work.
What am I doing wrong here?
Any assistance greatly appreciated!

I have tried both Save As and Reset . . . neither works.

I'm not sure you should expect to see the sliders change. 50/50/50 is a rather arbitrary measure. 50 just means the default setting, and you can move either way from that up or down. (50 for one camera/ISO combination does not mean the same under the hood as 50 for a different camera/ISO combination, either.) So I suspect that once you have reset your default for your camera, it becomes the new 50. You could check by setting it to a very different amount, setting that as the default, and seeing whether you do in fact see a difference in the NR at the "new" 50. (You can always change it back to the default and then set your own value after the test.)

Also tried Clarity . . . changed from 10 to 100 . . . again . . . nothing happened with either Save As or Reset.
Very perplexing???

So you mean when you changed the clarity or NR, you didn't see any difference in the image? And was this with a newly imported image or with an existing one? Perhaps (like auto lens correction for example) it only has an effect on importing a new image after you have changed the default?

Yes, Ian. The new default settings are applied only to newly imported images.
It works on my computer : I have chosen to set NR and sharpening to zero for my camera, and indeed, these values are applied. And more specifically, NR is not reset to 50, but stays at 0.

So all the existing D810 images are subject to whatever the current default settings were when they were imported.
And I have no way of adjusting those default settings?
So if my default NR setting is 50/50/50 . . . and I have a folder with 100 ISO images that I want to apply NR of 0/0/0 . . . then I have to manually adjust each of those images . . . I can not change the default setting?
That does not seem right.
Surely there is a work around for this.
There are always going to be different setting requirements for different shooting conditions and lenses.
I am not going to want the same NR default setting for IS0 100 images and ISO 6400 images.

If you want to change them all you can change one, select them all and then copy and paste the adjustment. Quick job. But the reason for a change in the default not applying retrospectively seems to be the sensible one that you would not want images you had already imported and adjusted to your taste to be altered.

Yes, certainly.
Let's call the images you want to change A, B, C....Z.
(1) Make sure the edit all variants button is turned on - the icon with three stacked rectangles on the toolbar - if it's grey click it so it goes orange.
(2) Select all the images from A to Z.
(3) Click on any one of the selected images. For that one set the three NR sliders to 0 (down from from 50).
(4) Go to the double headed arrow symbol on the same line as the title of the NR tool.
(5) Hold shift and click that arrow. The 0-0-0 setting will be applied to all the selected images.

Sorry . . . very dense here . . . can't figure out how to do this step.
I have tried clicking on the images showing in the right vertical viewer but that doesn't work.
I think I have the rest.

So if your images are in the browser (the right vertical viewer as you called it) you can select multiple images in the usual Mac ways. For instance if you want them all, click on the first, then hold down shift and click on the last. It should select them all. If you only want some of them, click on the first, then hold down Cmd while you click on each of the others you want.

I had a similar problem with Fujifilm X-T1 RAF files and Capture One 12 Pro.
My existing (from earlier C1 version(s) ) default value files were named 'Fujifilm FinePix XT1.copreset'.
I noticed that if I created a new default value file it was named 'Fujifilm X-T1.copreset'.
I re-named my old default value files to 'Fujifilm X-T1.copreset' from 'Fujifilm FinePix XT1.copreset'and this seemed to get rid of the problem.
Additionally I noticed that if I used the drop down 'Apply Defaults' this did not work (defaults were not applied).
I found that using the tools ... button and selecting 'Reset' then the defaults were applied.
I opened a 'Case' with C1 support and my problem has been passed up the chain.So, I assume some fix will appear at some time.
I don't know if this will help you but I thought I'd mention it.
