The Focus Tool is new, local copy/apply (per tool), metadata editing plus all the minor stuff.

    There's no focus tool in v5 non-PRO.

Hmm, nor any of the things you said...

    Anything at all new?

OK, since the creators decided not to document this, here's what I can find are the differences:

    - Remove spot tool (good thing)
    - Toggle Proof Margin (never going to use it)
    - Shows IPCT data in exif viewer (but no edit facility, so no more useful than an exiftool dump)
    - There's a preference item about showing grid/guidelines, but I can't find any way to enable them
    - The return of the focus zoom panel in the sharpening panel (this disappeared in the 4.x upgrade, so it's hard to call it a new feature, but I will for the sake of giving P1 the benefit of the doubt).
    - oh.. that's it.

So basically $99 for the "upgrade" gets you the spot removal tool and the return of the focus panel. Am I the only feeling this is a bit of a rip off? I'd gladly pay $50 just so I can use it with my D300s, but right now I'm inclined to switch converters instead.

that is not accurate. The differences continue in that Pro can extract several size/types of files at the same time. It can also have the workspace and tool tabs customized, use two monitors and have access to Styles. Those all are very nice features to have. Lastly, only the pro version does Tethering.

Oh ... and the skin enhancer and watermarking ... those are only in pro. I'd hate to buy the limited version personally and then keep looking over at the items missing from my repertoire. After all one spends on camera and computer gear ... C1Pro seems like a bargain over the regular version - to me. :0

Version 5.0 is much more stable than 4.x. That is priceless.

I was talking about the differences between C1-4 *NON-PRO* vs C1-5 *NON-PRO*. That much should be very clear by careful reading of my posts.

The differences are practically zero - spot removal and return of the zoom tool, and do not seem worth the $100 upgrade fee.

During CO5 beta I received a list of new features for CO5 Pro. I extracted the features which also apply to CO5 non-Pro. These are the differences I can come up so far:
    • Local Copy and Apply
    • Viewer Margin and Proof Margin
    • Edit Keyword and IPTC Metadata
    • Windows 7 / OS X Snow Leopard support
    • Improved Importer
    • Improved Image Quality
    • Improved Progress Indication
    • Long Exposure Slider in noise reduction
    • Preview Image Size Preference (600-2400 px, default 1000)
    • Improved Tools and Tool tabs (like improvements to copy/apply adjustments; auto-expand tools)
    • QuickProof
    • Support for new cameras

QuickProof is currently Mac only, but that may change, and not sure this will surface in the non-Pro as well. Some features are clearly existing improvements, some maybe more marketing talk? Details may change when CO5 updates are released because the separation of Pro versus non-Pro is currently a bit confusing (some Pro features are not entirely masked in the non-Pro version, causing confusion).
