Please Clarify Upgrade Policy
There does seem to be a need for some kind of official statement here and quite a few concerned CO users out there. Discontinuing the SE version seems to be the root cause but PhaseOne's attempts to put together a fair option for existing users may have backfired. The added complication of the 5-pack promotion just makes things more er... complicated.
My route to Pro was LE user to SE then the 5-pack promotion then a paid for upgrade to Pro. I understand that my paid for upgrade to Pro brought with it 2 major releases and the SE 5-pack will be converted to 2 major releases.
The next confusing component for 5-packers and non-5-pakers is does 3.6/3.7 count as an upgrade. PhaseOne said 3.6 didn't because it was so problematic and now the general view seems to be 3.7 shouldn't because it's just a 3.6 fix. Is there anyone that can give an authoritive answer there?
CO Users that opt to be bumped up to Pro from SE (without paying?) get one free upgrade. If they are 5-packers then that should be 3 in total. I know this is going on in a seperate thread but it's related (and other forum). So, in a nutshell here are the questions for PhaseOne:
Who's getting what and why?
How do we know what we are getting and when?
In another nutshell:
Please clarify the upgrade policy since the loss of SE taking into account the two routes to Pro ownership.
As an aside, some CO users talk about moving away from CO to other converters. For me, that's not an option - first, it's cost me the best part of $500 to get in to this club and second it's the best club to be in. COs conversion may have competitors but the speed, workflow, and flexibility, along with the conversion is great. 🤭

Martin
PS - where is the 3.7 RC?

Release candidate link
Version 3.6 nor 3.7 count as a paid release. So if you bought a 5 pack upgrade you have not used any of them yet. If you did not buy the 5 pack updates
Please see this link on the SE users options.
There are 2 Free options for SE people.
Option A: You can trade in your SE and get a PRO with one update
Option B: You can trade in your SE to LE by downgrading. This downgrade provide you with a full LE version including 1 update for Mac or Windows.
Option C: This is a paid option You can trade your SE in to a PRO key and get 2 updates for 149 USD or Euros.0 -
Thank you Michelle, for your reply.
I am an \"Option C\" This is a paid option You can trade your SE in to a PRO key and get 2 updates for 149 USD or Euros.
I came in on 3.5 (paid option) and have the 5-pack so, do I still have the four upgrades left?
Thanks

What do you mean in Option A when you refer to one update. What does update mean. Does it mean fixes on that version? If that's the case I want my money back because not one version or "fixes" have proven to be worthy and after the new release is out I'm sure they'll will be tons of problems. I'm just going by your track record. I'm still upset that I have to pay more in PRO which is no difference that SE but how many photos you can batch at one time. This really sux.0 -
A update is for example version 3.5 to 3.6. A maintenance release is a version were the 3rd digit changes. Example 3.5 to 3.5.1 to 3.5.2
Phase One is giving 3.6 to 3.7 away for free because we only change the name to 3.7 because it now supports tethered. Otherwise it is only a maintenance release.
You do not have to pay to get Pro with 1 update. If you would like one on one answers please email the marketing email box. You will get a direct answer about your key.0 -
Hi,
is it true that if I buy LE 3.7.4 now I will get the next version upgrade \"for free\"? Specifically, will I still be able to activate say ver. 4.0 once it comes out?
Thanks and regards,
Roman0 -
Roman,
Updates are maintenance releases and are Free.
Upgrades add major features and functionality and are chargeable.
When your purchase LE, it comes with 1 Upgrade; and with PRO version 2 Upgrades.
The next Upgrade will be version 4.0
Sincerely,

Dear Keith,
Thank you for your fast response!
It makes my decision to go ahead and buy the current version (3.7.4) much easier knowing that the next version (ver. 4) is included. 😊
Best regards,
Roman0
