Importing tool can't create new album???

When I use the Import Images window to pull images off my SD cards, I specify to store them inside the catalog. It requires I pick a collection, and provides options for Recent Imports, "Capture Collection", and "Selected Album". I understand the capture option is for tethering, but either way, selecting that option didn't work for my import. I don't have a selected album, because it's a new catalog.

I'm new to this software, migrating over from Aperture. Is there an option in the import tool to have it create a new album at the point of import? Or do I need to create the album before I go into the import tool? The latter would seem to be a somewhat backwards or at least cumbersome approach, but for the life of me, I'm not finding a way to import my images into a catalog unless I already have an album created, and have selected it before going into the import tool.

Am I missing it?

  Yes, you need to create an album before import, that quite odd, but C1 assumes that you want to import ither directly to catalog and sort them into albums or assumes that you already created album inside catalog.
