Aperture -> C1 user. How do I stop the slider?
If the mouse cursor is above a slider and you use the trackpad (MBP) it moves the slider, very annoying when it happens unintentionally. Is there away to have the slider move only when I click and move the finger on the trackpad?
Note:
Being a newbie on C1 coming from Aperture, I find C1 behaving very different from Aperture, Photoshop and Mac. To use C1 I have to think over and change my entire workflow.
A simple thing as selecting many photos and deleting them, would normally be commando+back space. Why not just follow how it works on a Mac? I had to buy Photo Mechanic just to be able to easy sort and delete photos.
Catalogs is very confusing in C1, at least coming from Aperture, so I will work with sessions only.
And why are there not a simple checkbox to see "before" and "after" next to the tools for "levels", "curves" etc?
Wonder how many Aperture users created a new layer in C1 and dragged the sliders up and down and nothing happens.
And how much I miss just pressing M for just viewing a MasterRAW-file.
Much more could be said, but coming from Aperture to C1 is no easy task.
If the GUI in C1 is a problem for me (I hopefully learn) I guess it could be an even bigger problem for PhaseOne. I guess there are a lot of Aperture users DL the trial version of C1 and put away for good. Of course I don't expect C1 to be changed just to please Aperture users but GUI can be powerful, elegant and simple. It isn't easy but I hope Phaseone aims at that, photographers needs and deserves an option to Adobe.
🤭 don't judge me, ranting at my first post 😉 Hopefully I will learn C1 😄

I'm new to Capture One as well, coming from Aperture.
It took me a couple of weeks and a lot of editing to get into Capture One.
But I kept at it, and now I really enjoy it. I don't think the interface is that hard to work with.
You will learn a workflow that works for you, and then maybe customize the interface a bit to make it faster to work with.
That's one of the great features of Capture One.
Check the Youtube videos that are available, including the webinars.
They were really valuable for me. Helped me get that hang of how to do things.0 -
Its funny, I have been using C1 for a while, I tried Aperture and felt the way you do about C1. Just couldn't get used to it.
The scrolling issue you speak of may be dealt with via settings on your track pad. I don't own one so I couldn't say for sure.
That issue to you is my favorite feature. However, I use a mouse. Funny how things work.
"One man's trash"
The before and after adjustments:
Each adjustment has little icons to the right of the adjustment description. Starting with a "?", then "A", followed by a diagonal arrow, and finally the one you want, a counter clockwise circular arrow.
If you click this, it resets that particular adjustment. Now if you hold the "option" key while clicking the icon it toggles the reset.
To delete a lot of pics just use your shift key to select the range of pics you don't like, right click, delete.
Don't feel bad about your "ranting". You will see that some folks aren't as reserved as you.
C1 can be really intimidating at first. The 60day trial is a lot of time to adjust or decide its not for you.0 -

Thanks for the help 😊 I learn slowly and hopefully I will appreciate the GUI. For now I still think it's wrong not following how Mac OS X works, selecting many files/images should delete them as it does in Mac OS X.

Thanks for the support, I guess I have to watch videos over x-mas 🤓0
