Adjustments disabled for imported .jpg

Just now upgraded from Capture One Pro 8 to Capture One Pro 10. When I import a .jpg, none of the adjustments are available - sliders are grayed out. "Enable JPG editing" is checked in preferences. What's going on? Frustrating way to kick off a pricey upgrade. Thanks in advance for your help
