I'm losing my ratings

If I'm reworking a rated capture and I use the reset button on any of the adjustment tools the capture is reset to 0 stars. This is a big problem when I'm working in a smart album. The image disappears and I have to go digging through my selects folder for it. Any ideas? Thanks.
