3.7: Applying settings to multiple images

I'm not sure if this is new in 3.7, (although it seems to be), but if I have multiple images selected, and I'm doing density/color adjustments, if I alter the main image that I'm looking at, I see the Thumbnails also change, in the same way, in the other selected images. They change almost immediately, if they're selected too.

Are the changes actually being applied to those other images instantaneously, and do the settings \"stick\"? Does that mean I no longer have to hit that button named \"Apply Settings to other images\"? Or do you still need to hit the button?

(It would be great if you didn't need to remember to hit the button, and it did it automatically, to the other selected images).
