star ratings in Bridge read in C1
Hello,
I've done this before where I apply star ratings to images in Bridge and then in C1 I que up the images and hit "Load Metadata" and the star ratings sync. I'm having trouble this last time where the star ratings won't sync. I'm asked to either replace existing metadata in C1 or keep, and I hit replace. Any suggestions why this is not working this time. Thanks

I meat it's not possible, because Adobe using a NEW XMP Format and C1 OLD Format.
Phase One will change this but nobody knows when.0 -
But I'm using C1 6.4 and adobe bridge CS 5. When were the changes made. For what versions. 0 -
I'm not sure but I mean it was CS2 where the changes have come. 0 -
XMP is XMP. I'm not sure who informed you of the the "New/Old" conflict but it's not an issue.
Please simply set Capture One to read XMP, if one exists and includes a star rating, Capture One will read it.0 -

And this thread is in regard to the Star Rating… as such, no problem should the software be correctly set to read the XMP.
So again, in this case, XMP is XMP and setting Capture One to read the XMP will resolve the OP's conflict.0 -
I'm going to side with Drew. I've never heard of the difference in XMP write codes being a problem between these two software programs, bridge and C1. My questions still remains, however. I've done it before where it worked and now it won't work. I've tried checking off "read XMP over embedded" and "read sidecar over embedded". I've tried both and still nothing is working. I even deleted the .plist files for C1 and restarted the software. Still, C1 will not read the star ratings from Bridge when I select all images and click "load metadata."
Full disclosure, here is the set up. We shoot to C1 on one machine; on another machine an editor is watching the files as they come in in virtually real time in Bridge (the two machines are set up to "share" the capture folder in sharing permissions). After we shoot a look, the editor makes star ratings; then we shoot another look, and so on and so on. At the end of the day, after all stars ratings are made, I want to load all images in capture one on the capture machine and then click "load metadata." Like I said, i've done this before where it worked, and now it doesn't. Would there be anything else I could do, or am possibly not doing, to rectify this. As Drew mentions, there shouldn't be a problem between the two, no?0 -
It should work, for sure.
As a quick test you can just use a Local folder in Bridge and Capture One rather than the shared location and complication of the other machine. If all works in a local workflow, you can start looking at the networked location and permissions conflicts between the systems for the XMP files in question.0 -
What network permissions might conflict with this set up? Read/write permissions perhaps? 0
