See all images in a folder (incl subfolders)
Brand new to C1 so I'm a little confused. My images are imported in a catalog. I can't see any images unless I'm in the actual folder they are located in. If I want to see all images in the 2016 folder, I can't since the folder contains subfolders by month, then by event. Suggestions?

Yes. As far as I know, and contrary to Lightroom, it is not possible to display all images (including those in the subfolders) in a folder root that contains subfolders. 0 -
Sounds like a pretty serious oversight. Especially considering that the software is marketed as picture management as well as RAW editing. 0 -
Capture One is not as good as Lightroom for picture management yet. They introduced catalog management from version 8 only. Some improvements are needed, yes, but they will come, and this issue doesn't seem so serious to me, when compared with other capacities and functionalities of Capture One (colors, local adjustments, engine,....). 0 -
Yes, it is an oversight. The DAM side needs a good deal of refinement. A lot of simple little things, it seems to me. I recently purchased an individual CO license with the expectation that Phase One will continue to make improvements, for free, between major upgrades. It seems like this has been the case lately. That expectation plus the fact that after about year using LR and becoming proficient with it, I still could not stand it. The interface is clunky and inelegant. It has a lot of great features but I just hated using it.
Another minor issue in the DAM for CO is being able to completely delete an image from within the User Collections. Currently you can only remove the image from a user album. It remains in the catalog. There needs to be an process to remove the original completely to the trash from within the User Collections. This is possible in LR and Aperture although in LR there is a dialog box that asks you to specify.0 -
That's clear. But I think that when you try a new software, you should completely forget what the previous one did. All softwares are different, it's useless to compare them. You should adopt new habits and philosophy, and not try to find in the new what you left (and maybe regret) in the previous. 0 -
Regardless of past experience, being able to go through all the images is a basic task in asset management. Not a deal-breaker at the moment, but hopefully addressed in future updates. Would think it's very simple to implement. 0 -

Yep. I just select "All images" in the catalog collections. It takes about 3 seconds to display them (about 17000). I use this functionality when I look for a specific image using the "filters" tool.
Otherwise, I have an organization of my files which helps me a lot.0 -
