How do you use the annotation fields
Been using Media Pro for a couple months now and been adjusting slightly how I use it as I go on.
Have been trying to find any documentation or best practices on how and when and which of the annotation fields to use.
There are several nice fields in MP for annotation, and Im curious how people here use them, and also if the fields are "safe" to use. By safe I mean, in the future if I want to move to another DAM will the effort spent using a particular annotation field move over. For example Im am unsure if PEOPLE, PLACES, CATEGORY, GENRE, EVENT ... would move over to the new DAM. Im not looking to move, but having been burnt in the past, I really want to make sure my efforts at least start on the right path.
At this time I am not using the PEOPLE annotation. Im actually using a Hierarchal Keyword list. I know this moves over to other DAMs today.
Two Questions:
I understand the technicals, just looking for a good method of organization and safe fields to use.
Thanks

- Can anyone shed light on which annotations would be SAFE (as much as we can know today) out of the current annotation fields available?
How do you use the GENRE, EVENT, CATEGORY, SCENE. ( I do model and landscape work and searching best way to record if its studio/outdoor, b&w, hi-key/low-key, fashion, mountains, lakes, historical building ...)

IPTC fields have been around for 40+ years. I'd stick with the metadata standards like (flat) keywords for tagging. Look over at David Riecks site where he list suggested IPTC fields and links to the IPTC Core (800kb PDF) standard. 0
