Is 5.2 running in the PRO capacity and not the regular or DB?
Double check and if it isrunning in PRO please be so kind as to create a support case so we can investigate the issue as a potential bug.

    Hi,

yes it is running in Pro mode. I have already created a support case. I will double check everything once I get back to my studio later tonight.

Looking forward to hearing from you. 😊

    Thanks,

Is your laptop also running Win7 x64 or other OS?

    Hi,

Both machines are running the same OS and are x64.

To my surprise I just discovered that the C1 5.2 tethers just fine on my laptop. Uninstalled 5.1.2 and installed 5.2 just to try, and it worked. So I guess something must be missing or different somehow on my desktop.

Weird. I have no idea what could be the cause.

My desktop does not have an internet connection now, as I am waiting for it to be installed at the studio.

I will update the support case I created earlier.

Any input is highly appreciated. 😊

Next to check is whether any other software might try to tether before CO5 connects. Think about any Nikon capture software. None of these should be running (on your desktop).

    Hi Paul,

I don´t have any other software that is able to tether installed. Maybe I should try to completely uninstall C1, get rid of everything, and get a fresh installation. If there is no solution, I´ll try that when I get internet on my desktop. There was an article somewhere here that explained how to do that? Guess I´ll find it in the FAQ section or somewhere.

Or I could just try later today and run a trial until I´ll be able to register C1 again.

    😊

Steinar, a full uninstall-reinstall cycle does not affect your activation, hence no internet access necessary. You can find instructions here:
    http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageID=1
The Program Files folder has a x86 extension on x64 systems (item 4.)

    Thanks Paul,

    will try this later.

Shot to my laptop today, all went fine, but the colors on it aren´t excactly the best.

Tried the uninstall/reinstall thing as described in the link above (http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageid=1), but it didn´t help.

One thing I noticed, is that when I connect my camera to my laptop (on which everything works) and start up C1, the camera changes to "PC" on the display where the image count normally is. The camera does not display this when the same routine is performed on my desktop.

So I´m completely at loss here.

Will update the support case when possible, but right now I am getting a server error message.

There was server maintenance going on, hence the server error, but it should be back online now.

On your desktop, when you connect and power on your D3x, does it show up in device manager (you can use your laptop for comparison)?

  • Steinar12
Yes, it shows up in windows explorer on both machines. So it seems like Windows sees the camera.

    😊

Edit: Device manager, I´ll have to check, but I would assume so, as it shows up in windows explorer and I get a small icon down at the tool line (or what it is called in english).

    Hi again,

the camera shows up in device manager on both machines. I am working with support trying to figure this out.

Any suggestions are very welcome. I have been wanting to be able to shoot tethered for so long, and now I have just opened my own studio. And everything is perfect! Except this problem...

The driver is the same on both machines also.

Hope I won´t have to format and reinstall everything, though.

    Hmm...
Lets try to test outside of Capture One software so we can cut to the chase faster. Does the Nikon tether to Nikon NX software on both the Laptop and Tower?

  • Steinar12
    Hi Drew,

I will have to install Nikon NX as a trial to test that. I think their software for tethering is called Camera Control by the way. Will download and install. Good idea! 😊

Any tricks to make Camera Control Pro2 work in a 64bit environment? It just says no camera found...

Are you by any chance a NPS (Nikon Professional Services) member? I would use this source for Nikon on Win7 issues.

    Hi Paul,

I am a NPU member, for what that´s worth.

Anyway, I decided to completely reinstall Windows. Everything from scratch. Installed C1 as the first thing after the driver for my wireless card, anti virus and driver for my Wacom tablet. C1 worked tethered to my camera right away. This time it asked me to "register my product", the camera I suppose. Now Windows is updating, and hopefully everything will be ok afterwards too.

    😊

Hi Steiner, well done. Indeed it is the camera (and firmware) which is registered once on your computer within CO5. You can see it in the license dialog of CO5. Hopefully all stays well after you done the Windows updates.

Well I am glad that the issue has been resolved but I'm a little disappointed we don't know the true cause, other than an "issue with Windows". If you happen to stumble across the issue repeating itself let us know what changed so we can identify it specifically for other users that may have the same problem.
No one likes hearing "reinstall your OS to solve the issue" so specifics sure would be a great help for the future.

I could not agree more! But you know, I just had to fix this.

I would like to say thank you very much to all of you who have contributed to this thread, and to Support who have been outstanding!

    Thank you! 😊

Best wishes to all of you,
