Which field you need to change may vary according to your camera model. When I run into this problem (that is when I make this kind of mistake!) I change every date I can see in the Exif editor. But then you may find that you don't see the date change in Capture One until you choose Load Metadata from the File menu. You will probably get a message saying that there is a difference from the metadata already stored in Capture One and asking if you want to change it.

Glad to hear I am not the only one with this mistake!

    two things..

    1. In the exif editor that i am using I can see three time stamps for the date created..I am only able to edit two of those fields...seems that Cap One is using the field that I cannot change....makes no difference if I load metadata from the file menu..

    2. which exif editor have you been using? maybe I would try that...

    thanks

I need to change the date/time of a batch of Sony A9 RAW files..my camera was inadvertently on the wrong time and now i dont sync with the other cameras i used at that event...

I have tried to use an exif editor but even though it changes the date/time as per my new setting..it seems that there are several fields of date/time and Cap 1 version 11 always seems to use the one date/time field that I cannot change!!

Is there a way to change (and batch change) the date and time so that Cap One recognizes the new time stamp?

    thanks

I'll wash my mouth out with soapy water after saying this but have you got a copy of Lightroom by any chance. 🤭 If you have it has a function for correcting the time stamp embeded in the RAW file metadata for when you forget to do it in your camera when travelling.

I use Exif Editor. . Unfortunately, it seems to be a Mac only app.

I have a little more info now that i discovered..

my exif editor is actually successful at changing the time stamp for the actual RAW file...however when i see the thumbnails in the cap one browser...it is looking at the the exif data that is embedded in the thumbnail jpg....so if I try to sort my files in the cap one browser. with the files from the other cameras they are still out of order because the thumbnail exif data is not changing..but when I process the file..the actual processed jpg has the corrected time stamp...

this is something I can live with as my processed files will have the correct time stamp and I will be able to correctly order the processed jpgs..it'll just be a little confusing as the cap one browser will never be able to sort them that way as they look at the thumbnail exif data!

would be nice if the exif editor changed all the time stamps!
    thanks

Have you tried regenerating the Previews?

If that does not work and you are using sessions just delete the Cache folder and allow it to regenerate thumbnails and previews.

If using catalogues I assume there is a similar approach but if all else fails to regenerate the thumbnails remove the images from the catalogue and re-import them ought to work assuming your analysis is what is happening. (I can't comment on that - not tried it.)

For Windows ExifToolGui is what I've been using for years.
