slow UI in 5.1 / Win ?

removed 5.1, put 5.0.2 - working fast as usual, as it is supposed to work - you can't see how it is redrawing tools in a tab when you switching to another tool tab, it is fast... so what is different between 5.0.2 / 5.1 that makes 5.1 to display UI widgets so slow ?!

replaced 5.0.2 again w/ 5.1 - and UI is working slow again as described in my first posting here ❓

    deejjjaaaa,
Uninstall 5.0.2 and all the necessary settings files.
    http://xchange.phaseone.com/content/sup ... nguageid=1
Reinstall Capture One 5.1 and create a new session with a "workable" amount of RAW files in the Capture Folder.
If you were running the Beta, this should be done to clear out any stray settings files.

uninstalled 5.0.2 + I removed any traces of any files / directories w/ names like *capture* or *phase* or *p1* or *.*col* from anywhere (including prefetch files and .net assemblies) including what was in that KB article... reinstalled and immediately on the first run C1 5.1 still running its UI slow (redrawing tools when switching from one tool tab to another tool tab) on empty folder (created session and filled with several files - no changes).... I guess something is left somewhere or was currupted ? could it be w/ .NET ? I probably need to remove .NET completely, all of them and try reinstalling that from scratch

CPU utilization hits 50% when just going from one tab to another...

completely removed all .NET frameworks and reinstalled from M$ - no changes... 5.1 UI still works like a turtle

Difficult to put the finger on what might cause the slow performance in your case. In contrast, I was amazed how much quicker 5.1 responded on my Windows 7 system over 5.0.2. I hate that, it's now better than my (older) Mac. 😁

well - as for the rendering of image(s) - no issues, fast - but comparing who UI widgets are displayed by 5.0.2 vs 5.1 - 5.0.2 in a blink of eye, w/ 5.1 - you can actually see how the elements are being literrally drawn on the screen... I guess I will just have to grab another HDD and reinstall everything completely from scratch... I think it has something to do w/ .NET... tell me - you were running 5.1 Beta (1, 2, ?) on your computer prior to 5.1, right ?

Yes, I did. And I uninstalled the beta before installing the 5.1 release.

and Beta was running its User Interface as fast as 5.0.2 ? well - already ordered a new HDD, will be trying a clean install then... Or is it that C1 stopped supporting XP as it is basically obsolete OS now ?

I run CO 5.1 on WinXP in a virtual machine on my Mac and it runs fine (single proc., 512 MB; not a screaming machine). Yes, XP SP3 is still supported.

another funny thing - if I will run C1 5.1 and Photoshop CS4 together - C1 5.1 UI is flying... I quit Photoshop, immediately C1 5.1 UI becomes sluggish, I start Photoshop again and C1 is back to its normal fast UI... I am lost, I can only assume that while Photoshop is running it is loading (keeping active) some "correct" .dll that C1 needs to run its UI fast... but once I quit Photoshop then C1 starts to use some "bad" .dll ?!.... other than that is looks stupid as Photoshop eats several hundred mb of RAM at once and yet it makes C1 work faster on my setup... WTF.

A head scratcher to be sure.
Start a support case and lets get some details.
    -System Information
-Any Process Monitor information you can provide?

btw the same story w/ Bridge... if I am running 5.1, UI is slow - I start Adobe Bridge, immediately UI in 5.1 starts working very fast, I quit Adobe Bridge - UI in 5.1 again work slow...

Drew - I can run Process Explorer from Sysinternals, which will give more details that standard XP process monitor, but what should I record for the case exactly ?

P&S video to illustrate what is happening - http://uploading.com/files/869fad8e/P1020741.MOV/

seems to me that this is kind of a graphic-driver issue. some openGL or whatever thingie.
no idea why, but some kind of graphic acceleration seems to be stopped or not started anyway. if you start some adobe applications the graphic driver will start the acceleration and this works for C1 also.

or maybe it is something completely different....
    😊

I have looked at your video as well and come to the same kind of conclusion as Marco22. Something is wrong in your current setup and plays havoc with CO 5.1. Next, loading PS CS4 seems to fix the issue, until it is closed.
However, no idea whatsoever what is going on.

all other programs are working OK and also 5.0.2 is working OK without any Adobe programs running at the same time... so what is different in 5.1 (and 5.1 Betas) vs 5.0.2 that they can't work normally in my environment ?

note that this is not affecting the speed of how C1 displays the preview, you can zoom in / zoom out / scroll w/ a normal speed - it is only affecting how elements of the UI are displayed initially... but once they are displayed they are working fast (it seems to me)... so for example once the exposure tool is displayed (slowly), the sliders within it are working fast...

I gave up and started to reinstall the whole system from the scratch, albeit it 'd be good to find a bug 🤭

    deejjjaaaa,
Sorry to hear that. It would have been nice to pin down that bug in case there is another user with the same issue.

some people above suggested that issue was how C1 interacts w/ videodrivers - the difference is that I am not using videodrivers for my notebook from Lenovo web site now - I just used whatever is available from M$ in a generic form just in case.

Did the reinstall solve any issue then?
