Hello,
When I tether my 1DS Mark III to C1-Pro (v5.1.2) the camera connects but no images come in. Does anyone know why? thanks a lot

I understand from another post from your hand today that you already solved the issue by deleting the plist file. 0 -
If deleting the PLIST did the trick then the issue was likely with a past session and the associated "Capture" folder. I've seen this before on a very "sick" machine, where the Capture folder from one session no longer existed but the software kept trying to capture to it's location. A new session didn't help things in that case, it was necessary to delete the plist.
Just an FYI on possible explanation.0 -
I had this same issue today with a canon 1D Mark IV. Camera was tethered, on Capture 5.1.2 mac 10.5.8 , did light tests and captures were coming in fine. Then 4 captures into the first shot, captures stopped coming in. The software still recognized the camera, I could even fire the camera from within the camera tool, but no images appeared. This could not of happened at a worse time, right at the beginning of a shoot. Had to shoot to card. Why is this happening? and is there a solution to this issue? 0 -
Dale,
Your issue simply sounds like a bad USB cable. Connection was dropped from camera to computer but the driver was still active in the software so it looked like the camera was connected. If you waited 5 minutes or so the camera would disappear from the software menu. Also, in the future you can check Activity Monitor and manually see the stalled driver that has lost connection, when you see that you can likely restart the software and hope your cable holds up or quite the driver and reconnect the USB terminal.
I would suggest you get a new USB cable that is below spec length for better connectivity (less than 16').0 -
I restarted the software and reconnected the camera, it was connected and showed in the camera tool bar/camera tool. I was also able to fire the camera with the capture button in the camera tool. The activity window showed the capture coming in, again, no captures appeared in the browser window. That is a sign of a bad cable? 0 -
are you using a macbook pro? I've found on the newer laptops that not all USB ports work for tethering cameras. the newest macbook pro 17 inch has 3 ports but only 2 will tether. it looks like its tethered but no captures come in. I have 2 identical new 17inch macbook pro and both have the same bad usb port issue. on apple's support site others complain of slow usb hard drive speeds using that port. just a thought. 0 -
I'm using a macbook pro 2.4 ghz from 2007 with 10.5.8 I'm plugged into the usb port on the right side. 0 -
Hi there
try to use the USB port that is the closest to the power port.
Use the same to download your card thru readers, you'll be amazed…

Yes, it very well could be.
It's hard to determine the difference between a bad cable and a bad port... unless of course you have multiple cables/ports to test. The exact error that you described can be reproduced consistently on a machine of mine with a faulty port. If you check the "Events" window there may be a corresponding error associated with the "Half Capture", something like "Camera Error". Either way the exact description you provided is almost always contributed to a faulty Port/Cable.0
