Well if this is a server, yes you will have some lagg when writing to local drive is far faster then writing to a network drive.
You should try it out and see if it is acceptable.

'Picture' the situation: Multiple P25/Dual 2.5 GHz G5 Capture Stations, during the same shooting session, sending RAW files over a Gigabit Ethernet to a local RAID server, where an operator is then Processing the images as they completely arrive, doing minor Retouching in PSCS, and backing FINALS up to secondary drive, and then burning to DVDs, for the Client to \"Take With\" when they leave the Studio that day.

So, is it a problem to have Capture One open on ALL machines, simultaneously, performing these functions?

Where is the bottle neck in performance? If it's NOT fast paced fashion, and you are shooting product, is there a concern about lagg time over Gigabit Ethernet? As far as 'trying it out', do you know what the extents actually are in theory?

Bottle neck will be network / RAID system.
I suggest you will have a Gigabit switch with 10GBit or Boundled 1GBit for the server, with a configuration like this you should not have any problem with the kind of photography you are describing.

So, if Capture One Pro is running on three machines, accessing the same networked folder, would all monitors display the new images as they are dropped in? I suppose there would be a problem if there were any file naming duplications. Is there a buffer somewhere for when two images are being captured at the same time from different machiines and writing to the same networked Capture Folder? Not sure I'm being very clear here. I don't know the actual workings of the system. But I don't think I would test this out on an actual job, with the potential of losing data and images.

Yes all machines should see the files as they come in when Capture One has Hot folder capabilities, ofcourse you will need to have different naming convetions on the three machines.
Standard settings works fine when this would be serial number + capture number which will be different on the three backs.
Each computer will buffer images in memory while they writing to disk.

Sounds like it's possible to shoot that way. I'll give it a try. I tried shooting a Nikon D70 with the Nikon Capture software and setting the C1Pro Capture folder to the same folder and I can see the iages but can't really DO anything with them there. I need to post another question about getting a smaller back for shooting casting calls. The P25 is nice, but a little overkill when all we're doing is making a web gallery from them.
