HDR with two files?
Hi,
I am new to Capture one and I am wondering if Capture One has a built in tool to combine two files to create a single HDR image. Much like the plugins for Lightroom.
Thanks

Simple answer...no. However, I would use Photoshop for this anyway, and I would use more than 2 exposures...at least 3 and typically 5.... 0 -
However, what Capture One does have is the ability to create two separate images from the same RAW... these two images would be on opposite sides of the HD spectrum and could then be combined in another software to create an HDR from a single exposure, should you not have been able to bracket. 0 -

This is what I have been doing for a long time, with great success. I output two tiff files, one optimized for highlights, and one optimized for shadows. The files are imported into the free Photomatix Basic software, whereupon they are combined into a single HDR file. The results are very natural looking, without any of the "cartoonish" effects normally seen with most HDR photos.
I have found that this yields better DR than working on just the one raw file. Also, another plus is not having to use a tripod.

Thanks for the advice, I currently Dont have Photoshop yet so i'll try the Photomatix route. 0 -
What should not go unmentioned is the extraodinary tool the LCC tool is for HDR on a single file. There is a blog note about it from the Image Professor at http://blog.phaseone.com/2011/01/13/the ... -hdr-tool/ 0 -

This is very interesting. If I use this method should I plan to under expose my planned HDR images when I shoot in the field?0 -

Basically yes. When you use the LCC as HDR tool you recover shadows. Expose the highlights just before they are blown out.0
