    photon,

You have this figured out ... proceed.

Yes, you can Save to Archive the .C1w files with the RAWs and move them.
You will then Restore from Archive upon loading into a Session on another machine. The path is always the Preview Cache location.

is there a way to trell which C1W file is from which RAW file?

Yes there is. The .C1w file name is found at the bottom of the meta data window ( Ctrl + i ) in the row Setting File
Therefore, Save to Archive the .C1w file with the RAWs for each Session to be moved.
Once moved to another machine and .C1w files restored, they will always "find each other" .

    Sincerely,
    k c

wait a moment... it seems there is no need to do anything. I can move my NEF file and Capture One recognises it and remembers the settings!

That's cool and I then have found a great way to simplify my workflow.

So, apparently, the RAW-to-settings link does not take the file location in account?

Is that link just based on the name or does it use some CRC? In the latter case, processing the NEF with something like Nikon Capture might break the link...
