C1 LE version 3.7 locking up

    Hi Juli,
3.7 Pro hangs also, usually while browsing the thumbnails. I reported the same feature in the 3.7 RC, but I think it was too late, about 3 days before release as a full version. I get it using either an Intel or AMD based processor, so it has to be within C1 code.

    irm from other forums.

I hope they can fix this. It was not fun having to reprocess them in PS CS2. ☹️

    Juli, RF,

3.7 Pro and 3.6 SE did the same for me, i.e. hang, whenever I would open a new folder of raw images and the first pass was just getting started generating the preview files and I tried to process the first image too quickly. This seemed to be pretty consistent. If I waited a few seconds after pointing to a new folder for which I didn't have a cache this wouldn't happen.

If this happened after processing a bunch of files maybe it's a different problem with the only similarity being that the program hangs?

Sometimes the only resolution was to kill it in the task manager unless I felt like rebooting.

The Batch Limit for LE has been removed, so the number of files to process should not be the problem. Make sure system is not a contributing factor.

    System Requirements for Windows:
    Operating system XP or 2000
    Pentium III, prefer IV
512 MB of RAM minumum, prefer 1 GB or more

juli, you should not have had to start over with your image adjusting.
Once images are adjusted and saved, these data stay with the Work files (Thumbnails). Check the File > Preferences > Save Options tab and establish your choice for saving the image adjustment information.

Easiest and most effecient location to process to is within the Session folder into the Develops sub-folder. At the Process tab, check the
Always process images to associated image folder box. Some workflow processing to network or external hard drives have created some problems. Can be antivirus/firewall related, permissions, or USB/FireWire cord problems. This is not to say that it can't be done.

Scroll through Thumbnails using the arrow keys, or mouse on sidebar or arrows. Scrolling using a mouse 'wheel' or a Wacom tablet has created some hardware driver related problems for some, especially if these are plugged into a USB hub.

If none of the above pertains to your system and workflow, I encourage you to Create a Support case at the web site so that detailed problem documentation can be established. If a bug is determined, this information will help Developers in resolving the issue. http://support.phaseone.com

    Sincerely,

    k c

All my systems have more than sufficient power and memory.

But, I agree 99% of my lockups occur while using the wheel to scroll through images. My laptop has a USB wheelmouse and my main PC when it is working has a PS2 wheelmouse.

Question, what has happened either to CO or Windows XP since CO v3.5 where this wasn't an issue?

I will try and remember not to use the easy feature which is now a habit when scrolling through images. I don't use network drives for active data storage.

I just had 3.7 Pro lockup using the arrow keys to scroll through the thumbnails. CPU load went to 100% and I had to kill it in the task manager.

Since I stopped using the wheel on a regular basis the hangs have reduced, but it does crash of it own accord.
Doesn't seem to like other applications closing while it is doing something or it is closing.
Seems to crash most when loading images and is minimised, I might have used the wheel sometimes, but not every time. 🤭

I have let the dumps go through to Microsoft. ☹️

    Ian,

Where do I find the dumps?

In addition to the lockup I've had 3.7Pro crash on me but there's no log data saved in the system logs (running W2K). The crash occured while I was working on an image in C1 so no other applications closing.

Under XP it is stored in \"Documents and settings\" under \"allusers\". In W2K I think they are stored under Dr Watson.

Do a search in all directories for \"*.dmp\".

Looking forward to getting my main PC working, the laptop is running out of disk space and even though I am using the big monitor on the laptop the clarity doesn't seem to be there. 2 weeks or less to go I hope.

I have just a thought, I wonder if C1 doesn't like working with disks that have compression enabled? Why, because I don't have anywhere near this number of crashes (about 3 a day at the moment, not lockups straight crash, close) on my main PC with uncompressed disks.

Found it and have forward it to tech support.

I'm not using compression so there are other causes for my crash.

I sorry to say that I'm troubled by all this. After all, 3.7 was supposed to be a bug fix release for 3.6. What if 3.7 will give me so much problems that I have to fall back to 3.6 and my 3.6 license now is deactivated because I upgraded to Pro?
