Strange keyword bug
I have one hierarchical keyword in my catalog called "Paul" and another called "Paul Jr." under different parents in the hierarchy. When I set my view options to display keywords, the text says "Paul Jr." for all the files containing just "Paul". Yet the correct keyword "Paul" is highlighted in the Hierarchical Keywords section when I select the file, and more importantly, when I export annotations to the file, it contains "Paul".
The Keywords section of the Catalog Fields panel shows both Paul and Paul Jr. keywords, and Paul Jr. lights up when I select a image whose keyword is actually Paul.
So it seems like in one place (the non-hierarchical section) it thinks all my Paul keywords are Paul Jr., while in the hierarchical section it shows them as I intended.
To add to the confusion, my Paul Jr. keyword was at one time called just Paul (i.e., I had 2 Paul's in different places in the hierarchy). I renamed one of them to Paul Jr. and now MP is utterly confused.
One would expect that in a hierarchy, there should be no problem having 2 keywords the same in different places in the hierarchy, right?

check out your vocabulary with he "Edit Section"
If you want to dive deeper into MP metadata, goto ~/Library/Application Support/ --- in order to check the filenames and related contents ,,,

It has to do with the location were all metadata sets and keywords are stored on Mac OS ...
What else do you think? Ah yes, youmight think that this can be the wrong place? So you might additionally check ~/Library/Preferneces/...

Ah, I see. In my ~/Library/Application Support/Phase One MediaPro, there is just one folder, "Plug-ins". Under that there is a Vocabulary/Default folder, but that only has a Keywords.txt file with some ancient stuff in it.
I also checked ~/Library/Preferences but that mostly has just plist files.
I don't see anything called "Edit Section".
Anyway I'm not convinced that keywords are stored anywhere in ~/Library. After all, each catalog has its own independent set of keywords. They keywords must be stored in the catalog file itself, I would think.0 -
The keyword file is a simple text file that is stored in ~/Library/Application Support/Phase One MediaPro/Plug-ins/Vocabulary/Standard
You need to produce one keyword file - by default none exist with the initial installation.
Without any further ado, your keywords are stored inside the picture file or inside an xmp-filerelated to that picture prior to any actions in MP.
So it seems that MP 1.4 has problems reading the keyword as mentioned above due to possible mix-ups while reading improper tag. This did not happen in 1.3. That is the reason why I switched back to 1.3.

To produce any metatag files, like keywords, author, town, ISO country code etc, just fill in the tags visible under "i"-tab on the left. Once you entered entity in each of the available editable tags, the entered content is stored in the mentioned directory. Once you entered one entity, you are able to edit the files with a text editor, which is easier than entering the entities inside the MP GUI - just add them inside the regarding files. After opening MP the next time, the entities are now available for use, i. e. double-click the regarding field in the GUI -> the field changes from black to white and the first character entered there will complete the field, if an entity starting with the character is stored in the vocabulary file. Entering new ones will be stored with storing the catalogue and be available from storing in any catalogue you open or create.
If you want to edit each of the vocabulary entities within MP go to "Preferences" -> "Vocabulary Editor" choose "Standard" on the top of the opened windows and select the field of interest, selectable "Field" field.

Using hierarchical keywords is different because you have to do the grouping in the Catalogue Tab, that's the ons that looks like the printer symbol. There you have to define to top of your hierarchical tree, name to your need and add/select the single keywords, that shall be under the root element of your hierarchical tree. This is just a grouping - the keywords entered will be stored inside the keywords file as all other single keywords as well as already existing keywords can be used for grouping. The assumed benefit is to just add a hierarchy instead of entering every single keyword.
