    Hi,

The Batch Rename tool is limited o the Pro and DB versions of Capture One. To use it select the images you want to rename, go to the "File" Menu and select "Rename"

Can someone show me how to batch rename multiple files in Mac OSX?

    Thanks.

You can also batch rename from the desktop, with some free utilities like "FileRenamer", C1will of course recognize them but you would have to rename also the previews and other files created by C1, better change names before importing in C1!

    Options:

    (1) Use a tool like Photo Mechanic to ingest your files. You can rename at that time with a great deal of control. For example I use the following rename parameters when ingesting files from my Canon 30D and 5D:
    {filenamebase:0,2}{modl:10,1}_{filenamebase:4,4}
This creates names like "IM3_1234.CR2" or "IM5_1234.CR2" which help me separate files from the 2 cameras. You can also use date/time stamps and artificial sequence numbers and many other things.
Just one of many reasons to use Photo Mechanic, IMO.

    (2) Use one of several 3rd-party renaming utilities:
    http://publicspace.net/ABetterFinderRename/
    http://www.sigsoftware.com/namecleaner/

    (3) Drop down to the command line and rename using the shell (at the shell prompt enter "man mv" for the syntax and description). This is not for the faint of heart, but is very flexible and fast. You should practice on copies of small numbers of files until you get the hang of it.

Thanks so much for the great tips.

Currently, I'm using iView or C1 to rename my images. My question is actually for files outside these software, which Greg & NicK has the answer for it.

    Appreciate.

However, this is what I just found out from a Wizard call himself Ozzy:

    1. Go to folder and select files to be renamed.
    2. Ctrl-click (right click) and select Automator>Create workflow
    3. Once in Automator, under Library select Finder, then under Action look for Rename Finder Items. Drag this to the right.
    4. In the drop-down menu select Make Sequential
