    1) Is it possible to make a recipe, that exports 5-star-rated pictures without preselecting them?

    Can you explain that a little more? What is the use case?

    No.

    Capture One has a principle of never making any changes to the original file, RAW or otherwise, for any reason.

    You can do that fairly quickly. In sessions (sorry, I don't know about catalogs) there is an existing preset smart album for 5 star images. You could go to that, hit Cmd-A to select all, then Cmd-D to process them all. So you don't have to select them one by one, and it is only a very short procedure to get all the 5-star images processed.

    My use case for the first question:

    I do a lot of wedding photography. When I am finished with editing, I export them: all pictures with full resolution and only the 5 star rated (best of) with a resolution of 2048 pixel (longer side). The 5-star-pictures are upload to google photos. But the workaround is okay for me, because lightroom hasn't a solution either.

    Thank for the answers, only two questions remaining 😄

    Can somebody try this:

    Open Photomechanic and put in the field "Creator/Photographer" anything and import this file to C1. Can you check if the Creator is doubles? I have tried different things, but nothing works for me and I have a feeling that this is a C1 bug.

    It doubles on my system. I use Windows 10, Photo Mechanic v5.0 (build 18040) and Capture One Pro v 10.0.1 (build 10.0.1.23)

    I added Odd S. to the Image Rights -> Creator/Photographer in Photo Mechanic.
    PM added this to the XMP-file:

    <dc:creator>
    <rdf:Seq>
    <rdf:li>Odd S.</rdf:li>
    </rdf:Seq>
    </dc:creator>

    Capture One needs to reload metadata from the XMP-file to catch the change.

    After C1 Reload Metadata, the field Metadata -> IPTC - Contact -> Creator displays "Odd S.,Odd S."

    After doing Sync Metadata in C1, C1 updates that part of the XMP-file to

    <dc:creator>
    <rdf:Seq>
    <rdf:li>Odd S.</rdf:li>
    <rdf:li>Odd S.</rdf:li>
    </rdf:Seq>
    </dc:creator>

    Strangely, PM displays "Odd S." once, and repairs that portion of the XML-file when I update it fom PM.

    Seems like a bug in C1, please do report it.

    Thanks. Is there a special way to create a ticket, or just emailing?

    Check out "Contact Support" near the bottom of https://www.phaseone.com/SupportMain.aspx
    Select "Technical Support" in the drop down list that initially says "Select assistance type". You will have to log on before or after initiating the contact support process.

    Thank you, Phase One could recreate this bug, so it will be fixed.

    I have a new question: how does the skin tone white balance work? I can switch through the skin tones (in the dropdown) but nothing happens. I understand the picker, I understand my custom presets, but I don't understand the predefined skin tones.

    Second question: is if possible to deactive the grid during a freehand rotation?

    It is very like the grey point white balance picker. So there are two white balance picker tools called grey and skin tone, but they would be better called "pick WB from grey" and "pick WB from another colour"

    In the grey one, obviously enough, you set the WB for the whole image* by using the picker to click on something in the picture that should be neutral grey. This adjusts the Kelvin and Tint sliders to achieve that being neutral grey.

    In the skin tone one, there is one extra step. You have to first choose the colour you want to match. So if you wanted the skin tone on a picture to match one of the pre-set colours, you would pick that colour from the drop down list (say "Honey medium") then click on the part of the skin that you want to be that colour. The tool adjusts the Kelvin and Tint sliders for the whole image* to achieve that colour at that point.

    You are not limited to the built-in skin tones, and you are not limited to skin tones at all, in fact. Say you have a photo of someone in a blue coat that you know is correctly lit and show the coat colour accurately. You can create a new "Skin tone" from the coat and save it with a name such as "Linda's blue coat". Then in another picture with difficult lighting to set the WB for, you can click on the blue coat to correct its colour and thus set the WB for the whole image.* The same approach might be useful for instance in an advertising shoot to make sure the client's product packaging comes out in a consistent colour.

    To create a new tone, you check the box that says "pick to create new" before clicking on the blue coat or whatever.

    * Footnote: actually you can use this tool just to change the WB on a portion of an image too by doing WB as a local adjustment. Useful in a scene with mixed lighting.

    Hope this helps.
