Develop setting saved with C1 Pro 4.8?

IIRC this has been reported here a few times before after a CO 4.x update. However, I do not recall the cause or the cure.

I suspect that either the session file (*.col45) or the CO configuration is screwed up a bit. I would suggest to change the session file first. If you only use the default session, close CO, remove the file (CaptureOne.col45 from the Capture One Library folder) and start CO again, creating a new session file. Otherwise, create a new session and test with a few images.

Regarding updating CO4.x I prefer to uninstall the older version first, before installing the new. I believe that is more bullet proof than installing on top of the older version although this works well most of the time.

Thank you. I tried it, confirmed that a new session file is in the works, but C1 4.8 still does not retrieve the setting data when it gets restarted. Do I need to remove the entire C1 application once and re-install it all over again?

I have not done this myself, but another fellow from Japan (yes, I am from Japan) reinstalled C1 4.8 from scratch in a clean environment a moment ago, and he told me that this retrieval function of saved development data seems still defunct.

In a meanwhile, I reverted to C1 4.6.2 for a try. C1 4.6.2 works just fine (!) without problems in retrieving the dev setting data. It even reads the setting data that has been saved with C1 4.8.

Methinks C1 4.8 is very likely broken when it comes to retrieving the saved dev setting (*.cos files) although it is writing that data OK. Any tips to apply to make it work other than deleting old captureone.col45 or clean-installing?

I work with CO4 on Mac most of the time, but ran a test on XP SP3 with CO 4.8. I noticed one occurrence of not saving or not retrieving saved adjustments but was not able to repeat that. Besides reinstallation, you could revert to a previous version (4.7?) like you did. Two tips:
    1. in case of a clean install, de-install CO4.x, delete the preference or user.config file in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Phase_One\CaptureOne....\4.8.. folder.
    2. if you use 4.8, did you use a different localization than English (Japanese for example?) Try English instead.
If nothing helps, best to open a support case with Phase One.

    Thank you. I have deleted both C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\CaptureOne and
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Picture\Capture One Library for clean install and the problem with C1 Pro 4.8 still persists, while C1 Pro 4.6.2 works just fine in a similar try. My env is a Japanese version of Win XP SP3 running C1 in the English mode. It may be that C1 4.8 is having problems locating .cos files when part of the folder names involve non-English characters; but do not know how/why C1 4.6.2 works fine in the same condition.

Anyhow, I have to say that Pro 4.8 is unfortunately broken as far as I am concerned (and for a couple of other Japanese colleagues out here) so I opened a support case a moment ago.

C1 Pro 4.8 does not appear to save the development setting. They seem wiped out as I restart the software. The "variants" do not seem to be saved/retrieved, either. Is it only me (in which case, I would learn how to do it right), or is it a known issue? I am running on Win XP SP3. This used to be OK, I believe, up to 4.6 but think not since 4.7.

I use the version 4.7 (also running on WIN XP SP 3) and all settings and variants are saved without problems. I am surprised about the new version and I'll wait with the update until there are some better news about this...

The existence of this problem is solid for those of us who are running C1 Pro 4.8 on the Japanese version of Win XP SP.

However, I am not aware if the same problem shows up on MacOS or on non-Japanese versions of Win XP or on Vista (To be more exact I have heard of no such instances so far in those other environments).

As I wrote a few days earlier I have opened a support case, and have been in contact with the PhaseOne person, exchanging some data and ideas. I know at least one more fellow from Japan has opened a similar support case. No I do not know the ETA for the fix, but I feel that it won't be a long wait.

I have confirmed that this bug has been fixed as of C1 Pro 4.8.1.
