Tiff Transperency issue

This is a longtime known issue, mostly due to the fact that Capture One has never done an amazing job handling alpha channels.

That said, C1 is a raw processing system, so once you've converted an image from RAW to pixels (psd/tiff) there's not really a reason to bring the images back in to C1. I certainly advise against trying to use C1 to make any adjustments to a TIFF file. That's simply not what it's designed for.

It's a different platform than Lightroom so the whole roundtrip cycle doesn't really work the same way.

No adjustments were made to the original Tiffs,I use the C1 catalog for a means of organization. Still, why do some tiffs behave a certain way, while others behave differently? some have black backgrounds, others don't, but both are still the same file format. Should I save/not save the Alpha channel in a certain way? I know that PS will sometimes offer the option to save Alpha or not.

Well, that's a load of rubbish. Did you not upgrade past Capture One 2.0?

The only thing I can agree with is that C1 has indeed been anything but good at handling TIFFs. However, roundtrips work ok and adjustments can certainly be made. - I remember seeing a post with a support response mentioning that OS X had some issues with TIFF previews as well. In any case, this seems to be more of a display issue, rather than a functional issue. You could file a support case to have P1 further investigate it. But no, there is no preview setting to change this. The other question is also, why do you need transparency to show in the preview? As long as the mask is in the file, you might as well just add a white background layer into the tiff/psd, so C1 and the OS don't have to deal with transparency preview.
