shooting files and importing files

When shooting files into 4.6 with a nikon d3 we also have d3 files files that we import into the same session but when we look at the newly loaded session only the imported files in that session show and not the original files we shot in that same session folder
what are we doing wrong?

  Three question come up here:
  - does D3 tethering work anyway (without importing images to the same folder?)
  - do the D3 images made during tethering show up in Finder
  - have you double checked that you tether and import to the same folder and that there is no overlap in image name?
