Importing keyboard shortcuts and workspace files from a Mac
I am traveling this week and I have a PC with me. Normally I am a Mac user so I find myself using a strange and foreign computer. I installed Capture One on this PC so I can continue learning it during my downtime. Is there a way for me to import my keyboard shortcuts and workspace configuration files? I located them on my Mac and copied them onto a SD card before traveling. Where do I copy these files into?
Thanks! 😊
Thanks! 😊

Hi,
yes and no.
You can copy your KeyboardShortcuts from
~/Library/Application\ Support/Capture\ One/KeyboardShortcuts/
to
~\AppData\Local\CaptureOne\KeyboardShortcuts
WorkSpaces are not compatible and can't be copied.0 -

Hi Robert,
Thanks for the reply! 😊
I found the Capture One directory you mentioned but there wasn't a KeyboardShortcuts subdirectory inside of it. Clicking around in the Capture One directory I found a subdirectory called CustomCommands. It contains what looks to be keyboard shortcut files but their extension is XML. The keyboard shortcut files from my Mac are in PLIST. My file is only 5k and the default XML files are 23k.
I copied my file in but it is not showing up in the shortcuts pull down menu. Am I doing something wrong?0 -
Hi Boris,
you are right. I'm sorry but it looks like that KeyboardShortcuts are also not compatible too ☹️0 -
Hi Robert,
Thanks again for another reply! 😊
I'm a little surprised to see that the configuration files are in a different format between the two platforms. Why create two separate file readers? I'm sure the coders had a reason.
I wonder how many other dual platform users are out there? Perhaps I am an odd ball use case?0 -
Hello Boris,
certainly not. I have long ago abandoned Phase One reason for certain behavior to ask. Especially customer-friendly company certainly is Phase One not.0 -
I suspect dual platform users are a minority. The same is true for users who make custom shortcuts.
More and more settings are cross-platform compatible, and XML based. Unfortunately, keyboard shortcut definitions are not. This could be related to how OS X handles application shortcuts but I am not sure. I am referring to the fact that OS X has some system-wide shortcuts and CO8 is aware of them. I am also referring to the fact that any key pressed is handled by the OS in the first place, and the application second.0
