Capture One did not start under Windows 10

In recent months I have had problems with Windows 7 and Windows Explorer freezing in use sometimes - no obvious reason.

C1 was unaffected EXCEPT sometimes when doing something Windows Explorer related in the Library tools.

A few weeks ago the problem stopped happening. I think that might have been related to a Windows Update for V7.

This may not help you but I do wonder if there is something similar happening with Win 10.

When you open C1 there is a splash screen that shows up and expects a response. You can choose to turn it off.

Do you see that screen? Have you seen it in the past and turned it off?

I am just wondering whether there is a possibility that C1 is opening a screen that requires a response from you but that has somehow become minimised or is not appearing on top of other windows as intended. Calling Windows Explorer, which will in effect open a background window, might overcome a problem with a "hidden" screen and allow it to display.

Obviously I am guessing here trying to fill in the pieces of what goes on when the proram starts.

    HTH.

Thanks for your really fast answer. 😊

When i start Capture One, there is no splash Screen which is waiting for a Response (a mousklick, a yes or no or whatever). It is simply the start screen of Capture One, where the Version and the Build of Capture One is shown.

I have to open the window and then it starts. Otherwise it crashed and i have to Close it cia Task Manager.

And the best Thing is: in the Trail Version, everythin is working. Then you buy it, activate it and it does not start! Strange!

You may well be right about the problem being related to activation in some way, although why opening WE resolves that is not obvious to me.

As you have already tried de-activating and re-activating this might be a little more troublesome to analyse.

Did you stop and restart C1 during the de-activation and re-activation?

Did you stop C1 and re-boot the computer before reactivating? (I am wondering if a cached file somewhere may be part of the problem.)

I would normally try these things a few times and perhaps run a re-install of C1 in an effort to get things back to default settings and permissions, etc. Not a smart approach of course but quite simple compared to a full attempt at analysis.

If the recommendations from C1 support have not worked out they may need to dig more deeply using specialist knowledge. That could slow down response times based on resource availability.

It is obviously not a "usual situation."

    Hello again 😉

i tried your suggestions but it doesn't alter anything. However Support has reacted today! 😊
They suggest to install the actual Version of my bios. But thats a tough Task - because i no which bios Version i have, but i cant find any informtation online, if there is a newer Version.

Looks like, Explorer and Capture One are my new killer-combination in photo-workflow. ☹️
