Cannot import properly

I'll probably stop using CO for importing.

I erased Canon's import software from my hard drive. Will reinstall and use for import. Simply works.

Then drag folders into CO library folder, and set them to "favorite" in the CO's file browser.

    Hope this will work.

    It doesn't work.

I already have a bunch of cards with different shoots and cannot import.

If I import with CO, I get all the images from all shoots in one big folder which doesn't even have the date of the shoot but the date of the import.

Yes, I clicked on "create subfolders by date" but it doesn't work.

I tried to import via DPP, but I cannot get this to work either. Since I have CO, the import doesn't start.

    So I cannot import.

Does anyone have a solution to this? How can I switch off the automatic image import window of CO when a card is put into the card reader?

I want to use DPP for import only, because it really works and puts the images in the right folders.

why don't you just create the folders by yourself, copy the raw files to them and open them from the library of capture one?
the folders active in a certain session should be set as "favorites" as "favorite"-folders create the thumnails much faster after restart or when switching to different folders from the same session.

I often have shots from different days on one card.

If I just import I get all the shots in one folder, that has even the wrong name.

I want images in folders whose name is the shooting date.

I don't want to sort manually through hundreds of images, pull them into folders that I have to create and name, too. That's just insane.

The problem is that Capture One seems NOT TO ALLOW any other software to do the importing. I can't import with Canon's software, for example.

So, no problem, if the importing feature of CO4 doesn't work well. But let me do the importing with another software. (I'm even thinking of getting Image Ingester.)

I sent a support request email to phase one two days ago. Haven't heard anything as of yet.

    Follow-up: case solved.

I got a reply from Phase One's support.

To use a different application for importing, Apple Capture has to be opened, and the application needs to be selected there. That's the way to stop CO4 from opening and to open a different import app when a card is inserted into the reader.

Happy that your issue is solved!
But are you sure about "Apple Capture" afaik it is an app to get screenshots, nothing related with your problem… can you check again, I've been searching for long for that utility (to set which app will import images fron CF cards) within our 4 Macs under OS X.5…

    Thanks!

    Ok
Then I made some search… "Image Capture.app" is named "Transfert d'images" in French…
The confusion comes from the fact that there is another Apple app. named "Capture"… this one for screenshots settings…
