Farewell Firewire? Help please..
Hi all:
As it seems that firewire ports will no longer be available in macbooks, what can I do if I have a P65+ ?
I know that I can buy a sonnet converter, but is there any other brands/configurations/?
Are this converters reliable to shoot tethered?
Or perhaps I need to buy the latest firewire macbook pro available (late 2011, early 2012), and keep it for 10 years?
Thanks in advance
Juan Antonio

Personally I do not think it is going that fast. Only the new (slimmer) MacBook Pro model has no firewire (and no Ethernet) port because of the size (height) does not fit the chassis. Apple or third party will introduce a Thunderbolt to firewire (and Ethernet) adapter.
The new MBP is a try-out model which will co-exist near the current line. We'll see what 2013 models bring.0 -
Apple plans to release a firewire 800 to thunderbolt adapter in the near future. This was mentioned at the latest WWDC.
