Colorprofile - two different looks before and after CS4

Hello, newbie here!

I have set C1 and CS4 (which I use for a few things that I can't figure out how to do i C1 - yet...)
My problem is the look of the photos, when I have made few adjustments in CS4 and then back in C1 again.

My workflow at the moment: All is set to Adobe RGB

- Adjust my RAW-files as I want them
- Process my RAW-files to TIFF and make a contact sheet
- I add a few local adjustments in CS4
- Then I open the TIFF-files in C1 agan, to make a new contact sheet, but the colors are flat and gray comparing to before I made my adjustments in CS4.

I must have missed something, but I don't know what it is! So if you have any idea or suggestion, please help 😊

    Can't tell EXACTLY what you're doing from your post, i.e. what you're doing in PS vs Cone...but a general observation is that A 1998 files viewed with an sRGB profile (as they might be with web settings) will be flat and grey.

    I suspect somewhere you have COne set to sRGB and are viewing A1998 files....

    I shoot with canon 5D mrk II in Adobe RGB and my prints will be in Adobe RGB as well.

    I am quite sure, that I hace set C1 to adobe RGB (view - proof profile - Adobe RGB 1998) and in CS4 as well.
    So when I compare the two contact sheets, that I make in C1, they are very different. I'm aware, that my browser can't show the same colorange as C1 and CS4, but the two contact sheets are not even close to each other.

    Are there any settings in CS4, that can influence the reading of the colorprofile in C1 or what might the problem be?

    Try this.

    Proof profile = selected recipe (default)
    Go to recipe tab, and make sure it is set to Adobe RGB

    Again, I'm confused on EXACTLY what you're doing....or what browser you are using.....BUT if your browser is not profile aware and assumes sRGB, then a contact sheet compiled in A1998 will look flat and grey, particularly with skin tones. However, the same file viewed in Photoshop with a good monitor profile set to A1998 will show the colors correctly. If this is the case, simply convert your A1998 file to sRGB for the web. This is good practise to standardize on because MOST of the web browsers in use display in sRGB, so putting A1998 files on the web or on websites will produce the effect you are seeing....hope that helps.

    Why don't you use ExifTool & its GUI to see what colorspace was embedded in each stage and then you will know in which step thing begin to go wrong.

    I was using ICC 4.0 wich Capture One is'nt that fond of - yet.

    Thank you for reporting back. To learn from this, is it the monitor profile you refer to re. ICC v4 profile? My understanding is (was?) that CO6 now is ready to handle ICC v4 profiles.

    hummm....the current version of V6 supports V4 profiles...I calibrate via Coloreyes and seems like it was release or so (6.1?) ago that this was updated.... If that solves it...all good.

    I just went through the release notes of all versions 6. In 6.0.1 support for v4 profiles is mentioned. Question is which version Julie G uses.

    Hi guys
    I use CO 6.1, I talked with a supporter from CO, he suggested that I tried to change to v. 2 since CO was not that good in v. 4 yet, but it's on its way, all this was after I upgraded to 6.1, but please do tell if I have misunderstood something 😊
    But all in all, it works 😊

    Well....I'm not sure what "so good" might mean...using a profile is binary, it either does or doesn't. So since COne does, it must be something else with your system/settings. If V2 profiles solve the issue...all good.

    However, something else is off kilter...I'd be looking arround in your spare time to determine what that might be. That is a solution that should not work as a solution...so it would be good to determine the real cause so that something (setting, whatever) does not cause future problems.
