Trying to update old sessions from 3.7.9 to 9.3

I've been diving into some very, very old session that were created in 3.7.9 (or earlier) and were never opened in subsequent version of Capture One.

Therefore, both the session file (".session") and the sidecar Capture One files (kept inside a "Capture One Settings" folder) were never updated into a format that is readable by the current version of Capture One. While the latest versions of Capture One have no problem viewing the image files, all ratings by star and colour have been lost along with any metadata that was added in the older version.

It's been a very long time since I made the transition from version 3 to version 5, and I can't remember if there was an export process that had to be run on the older .session files in order for them to be read in the newer version.

Would you be able to recommend an update path?

So for I have tried opening the session in all previous version of Capture One on my MacBook Pro Intel Retina Display running Yosemite 10.10.5 with the following results:

v4.8.3
The app opens but there is no option for creating or opening a session. When I simply navigate to the capture folder from the older session no images are displayed.

v5.2.1
CRASHES; cannot open app

v6.4.2
The app opens but it cannot read the .session file and it gives no option to update.

7, 8, 9
Cannot read .session file; no update option given

  This can not be done.
  There is a clear line between Capture One 3 and 4.
  Sessions can not be ported.
  RAW files are of course readable but the settings are not.
