I can not find any files in any user profile and the only file I did find was lic.enc

The file directory is outlined in the reported error. The folder in question is simply hidden. Follow the link below to learn how to reach these files and my recommendation would be a clean uninstall/reinstall of the software.

I have no hidden folders. Still can not find the referenced files. I have checked in all Doc & settings folders

I uninstalled and re installed I still have the same response.
I have no other Capture programs installed.
    thanks, Larny

Anyone out there have this problem ? I would love to try this program but can't seem to make it work. My system is nothing unusual.

I am willing to believe that but you could be more detailed about your endeavors after the tips you got. In a previous posting you noted that you don't have hidden folders. Well, ehhmm, you have otherwise you would have a very unusual system. I suggest you go through the suggested knowledgebase article another time, check your hidden folder status, find the proper folder, delete it as discussed in the article and bring us up to speed.

Well "eheeem" to you too. All folders are visible. I have followed the instructions to the point where I don't know where capture-one placed the files. The error code given points to %USERPROFILE%. This is a quote. So even the program itself doesn't know where it put it. There are no files present on my system that were referenced in the knowledge base article. I have searched the entire drive. My folder options are set to show hidden files.

I'm running XP 32 bit also. On my machine the C1 files are in this directory:

    C:\Documents and Settings\LHM\Local Settings\Application Data

LHM is my username, so substitute yours for the correct path. In the Application Data folder will be both a CaptureOne folder and A Phase_One folder. All of the configuration and other data is in one of them. The Local settings and Application Data folders will be hidden unless you have "view hidden folders" enabled.

%USERPROFILE% is a so-called environment variable. By default (but you can change this and Capture One will follow your change) this is set to "C:\Document and Settings\<user name>". The term AppData in your original post should read Application Data. I guess the error message is too cryptic and basically incorrect. So, yes, you have a point.

Anyway, both the article Drew pointed you to and Luke_Miller's post point to the right folder called Phase_One. Somewhere below in this folder is a file named 'user.config'. Deleting the Phase_One folder will do. Hopefully, Capture One will start again after that.
