There is an acknowledged issue with WB in the new layer approach at the moment.

Resolution expected with first point release. It sounds like you may be seeing the problem.

In C1 11 and C1 10 the White Balance adjustments on the masked sections of the top layer override any of the lower layers. White Balance adjustments on layers has never been additive in my experience - you can only set absolute values.

The WB bug in C1 11 results in the white balance on a layer reverting to the background layer settings should the layer be selected when it is disabled and subsequently re-enabled. (You are seeing functionality that has been in C1 for several versions.)

The absolute settings of White Balance on layers suits my needs. I frequently have to correct images of award presenations in a auditorium where the stage has not been specially lit for photography . The colour temperature of the lighting for sections of a stage could vary significantly and not complement each other. I first set the WB for the majority of the image on the background layer, then make local adjustments on layers for each area covered by a different light to either match or provide a pleasing contrast.

Thanks for the responses. I've also noticed the new bug you speak of where mere disabling and re-enabling a layer changed its WB effect. Though it must be my eyes playing tricks 😊

I would still love to be able to additively White Balance though. Even wanting to minimally change the Tint of one layer 'bakes in' the entire White Balance slider, possibly modifying the image significantly. But if I'm the only one, I guess there's no use of requesting it as a feature and I'll have to do more complex color grading in Photoshop.
