Is it me or has 9.1.1 broken support for Nik Collection? I was using 9.1 and the Nik roundtrip was extremely useful to me. Now, a week after upgrading to 9.1.1 "Open with..." doesn't list any Nik Collection components. If it is a bug OR intentional, I am screwed. Oh, and random crashes still occur.

I am running 9.1.1 and I am not having any problem with the Nik plugins.

The plugins are installed under Applications/Nik Collection and are thus not initially displayed since C1 seems only to list those apps directly in Applications. However when I browsed for them and added them C1 remembered and they seem to run fine on my system.

    Thanks, Mike.

Before 9.1.1 all Nik Collection plug-ins in my Application folder were listed in "Open with..." Since 9.1.1 they are not listed and when I then manually navigate to them, and click on one, nothing happens. I guess I will have to start a support case.

I generally use the plugins with Edit With because I am processing raw images and most of the Nik plugins will not accept raw images. I can still send a raw image to the Nik stuff with Open With, but the plugins generally will not open them properly and, when they will, they can not write them back to disk as raw images.

However the Nik stuff works fine on my system, both Open With and Edit With, with 9.1.1 if I am using something like a tiff and not a raw file. If I am using Open With I may have to go to Other and browse to the plugins to get them listed, but they do work, at least for me.

Mike, actually, the Nik Collection are standalone apps. Prior to 9.1.1, and I may be mistaken, selecting a raw file original, navigating to "Open with..." and selecting a NIK app, 9.1 would automatically create a TIFF and open it in the NIK app. Now, I see I must FIRST create the TIFF, THEN 9.1.1 will open it in a NIK app. I do not recalll this extra step in 9.1.

Don't confuse "Open With.." and "Edit With..".

When you do a "Open With.." it sends what ever file as is to the program. If the file is "Raw" it send the raw file, if the file is a "Tiff" file then the Tiff file is sent. No adjustments made inside of CO is applied.

When you do a "Edit With..", it first creates a "Tiff file" (Or the type selected), with all the changes made inside of "CO".

So the workflow is as follows:

    Import RAW
    Do adjustments with CO,
Do a "Edit With.." to create "Baked" Tiff file (If using catalog add to catalog). then send to Extenal program.
    Edit in extenal program.
CO updates preview to show changes
Do a "Open With.." to send Tiff file to another external program.
CO updates preview to show new changes.
(Repeat as needed for as many Extenal programs you want to use.)

I have not been a long time Nik user. I downloaded the trial many moons ago and, finding that I had no reason to pay what I thought was an exorbitant amount for functionality that I mostly already had (with Topaz plugins and with other apps) I decided to not buy it. When Google released it as free software I downloaded and installed it, so my experience is limited to my earlier trial and my recent installation.

Having said that I seem to remember that it worked exactly as it does now. If I used Edit With C1 sent an adjusted tiff to Nik and if I used Open With C1 send the original unadjusted raw. Some of the plugins could load the raw, but not save it, and all could load and save the tiff. That is, I remember it working exactly as it does now. I could be wrong, but I remember posting a question on the Nik forum about why Nik would load the unadjusted raw but not save it, and not getting any response. I also seem to remember submitting a support request and not getting any response.

So I see now difference in how Nik works with C1 compared to how (I remember) it working before.
