MacBook Pro VS MacPro

Recently I have been considering replacing my PowerMac Quad G5 with a MacPro, however it seems that my MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo is my workhorse. So why not use my 30" Cinema Monitor and a docking station along with my MacBook Pro to do my post processing. So far so good with handling my C1 files. Am I really going to notice that much of improvement with another 3k investment for a MacPro?

  Depends on how much processing you are doing, but P65+ processed to full size Tiff on a brand new Core i7 MBP takes about 20 seconds. On an 8 core Mac Pro tower, about 6 seconds.

  I'm processing P45+ files...Seems quicker then 20 seconds. I know that the 8 core will certainly be faster, just not sure how much and weather I can justify the cost.
