Watermark printing problem
I’ve been trying to add a watermark for printing, and have had a noticeable lack of success. My thought was that what I see on the screen should be pretty close to what is printed, but that’s not what is happening.
After realizing that watermarks are associated with an output recipe and that merely having a watermark on the screen doesn’t mean it will be printed, I discovered the watermark section on the print dialog. I first added a (text) watermark to the print dialog using the same options (font, size, position, etc) as in I used in the process recipe for exporting to a file, but although the watermark did show in the print dialog image, it was positioned slightly differently than in the image. Not excessively so, but enough that I noticed it. Not really a problem, so I decide to just go ahead and print, and that’s where the problem started.
On an 8.5x11 image in the viewer (the screen corresponds very closely to the real printed size), the “t†character in the watermark is about 0.35 inches high. In the print dialog, the watermark is roughly the same size proportionally. When I print, however, the watermark is only about 0.1 inches high and barely visible. Subtle watermarks are nice, but this is carrying things a bit far. I’ve tried modifying the font size in both points and pixels, but the problem is that if I put in a very large number (750 pixels, for example), even though it may print fine, it bears no resemblance at all to what is shown in the image in the print dialog. As such, it’s nearly impossible to position the watermark other than using trial and error, and both paper and ink are a bit too expensive for that.
Basically, the problem appears twofold:
1. There is no correspondence between the watermark on the image in the print dialog box and what is finally printerd, and
2. There is no seeming correspondence between the watermark size in the points or pixels setting and what is printed.
Is there some way that one can set up a watermark on the screen and have it print as it should? It works fine in a process recipe when I export to a file, and I’ve even tried selecting and enabling that recipe when I print, but it still has the same issue. Is there a special trick that is needed to get what appears to be a good watermark when displayed in the print dialog to actually print correctly?
Not that my images are all that worthy of a watermark, of course, but it would be nice…

You have done your testing properly as it seems. I have no experience with printing the watermark but based on your observations it seems it is time to contact support. 0
