GPU vs CPU

Simple question.. to render previews and process files.. what does c1pro use the most of? GPU or CPU?
I need to upgrade my Mac pro to the latest version.. wondering which GPU to plug in ?
And how much RAM ?

  My "feeling" is that GPU for rendering preview and CPU for processing files. I recently found a 285GTX for my 2009 MacPro and have a 5770 in my 2010 and they feel about the same when rendering previews. The 285 is great in PS and After effects the 5770 is crap.

  Yea.. I pretty much had the same feeling. But now wondering which GPU i can upgrade to for around say 1000USD
  and also the Nvidia or ATi Dilema..

  I would try find a 285GTX there are a couple guys on ebay that flash PC cards with mac roms I have one and its much faster than my 5770.

  Hook me up with someone reliable ?
  Im based in Mumbai, India.. I do get stuff from amazon and ebay..
  but when it comes to flashed cards.. dunno who'd be reliable and tested.
  
  And u think its advisable to get one that has a displayport as opposed to only DVI ?
