Creating Collections Across Filesystem Folders
I may be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole here but I'm attempting to use fewer tools for a simple job. I use Lightroom to manage my image files. If I want to look one up at random, then that's where I turn. But for a give shoot -- say 4 days worth, I might have 6 folders of images and I want to create collections with images from several folders.
Is there a way to drill down into subfolders so that I can have:
San Francisco

>> Models Outdoor
>> Models Indoor
> Wednesday
>> Golden Gate Bridge
and find all the 3+ star images using a smart collection?

Try this:
Create a new album(not a smart album) and drag all your images from each subfolder into it.
Now you can perform a search in this album and filter your desired criteria.0 -
So the proposed fix is to reorganize the images in the filesystem? 0 -
Albums are independent from the filesystem. 0 -
Perhaps Smart Albums are an option as well. Based on your criteria, a Smart Album is automatically populated with images.
Albums and Smart Albums are pointers to images within a session. For Smart Albums it is best to make all your image folders known in the Session Favorites.0 -
