Is there a way to upgrade an entire library to the version 9 engine,

  Select all images and then choose Engine --> Upgrade in Base Characteristics. Then wait a while (depending on the number of images) and voila.

  I have tried that process. I worked with the earlier version of Capture One Pro 9, but it no longer works for me and I do not know why.

  I found the solution. It is really obvious. I selected the images, and before I upgraded the engine I clicked on "Edit all Selected variants" Then I clicked on the upgrade command. It worked.
