The first problem you have is that the Fuji X-Pro 1 files are not supported by Aperture (not even with the latest Raw Support Update released today), so you have to start with CO, export the TIFF files to a convenient location and then import the TIFF files into your Aperture catalog either managed or referenced.

Thanks for your reply. I think you misunderstand what I want to do.
I do not want to use Aperture at all. I would like to use CO the way I use Aperture.

I would like to use CO as my management and cataloguing program and do what editing I can in CO, as well as converting my raw files to tiff. Then for any editing which I cannot do in CO, I would like to be able to launch an editing program (for instance Photoshop Elements) and pass the tiff version to it, do my extra editing then pass the edited version back to CO.

I see, sorry for the misunderstanding.
You can do what you are planning but to the best of my knowledge the round trip to the external editor and back to the CO catalog it is not fully automated: you can export a TIFF and open it with your favorite external editor with just one click but then you have to re-import the edited file manually.
At the moment the exported rendered files are not re-imported automatically into the CO catalog and this I think is the main limitation.

There is another thread on here that discusses something very similar with what you are trying to do. Ario is correct to the best of my knowledge on the current way to do this. The cataloging system that has been implanted into C1 is in its infancy right now. Hopefully P1 is listening to all the request so far, if they are then the next version should be very useful. I guess we will just have to cross our fingers and wait and see. 😊

    Hi Ario & Steven,

Thanks for your replies. I had hoped there was something like Aperture's external editor access and that I had missed where it was hidden. I guess that is not so.

Perhaps it can be done by use of Applescript. However, I do not have much experience with that and I think there may be a problem passing the edited file back to CO. I tried clicking on an image with right mouse button and selecting to 'Open' the file with Capture One, but when I do this it opens Capture One at the last session and does not load the selected image. I guess this is a difficulty, unless PO would be willing to make a modification to allow CO to open a clicked image and load it into the current session.

    Anyway, I appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

    Clive
