Canon 5D MK IV Tether Cache - Lost Files
Hi Guys,
I shot a job recently where we were required to shoot very fast & I found that if I hit the Canon 5DMK IV cache limit for tethering everything basically failed.
The camera stopped & showed "Busy", the files did not make it into the session, If I turned off the camera it said "recording images" with the blue spinning icon, then if I removed the tether cable all files were lost, not written to the card or transferred to the computer.
I want to know if this is a bug on your end or Canon's end. It was extremely frustrating to loose 17-20 files which were unfortunately not able to be "re-created".
I am using the latest version of capture one.
Cheers,
Sam

I would suggest you create a Support Case to ask the question.
This is intended to be a User to User forum an doperates mainly that way.
For official advice (and to let Phase know about the problem you had in detail) the Support Case is the way to go.

It sounds like you had a sub-par tethering set-up. I.e poor cables, no usb powered hub, no tether lock on camera, under 1/2 charged camera battery, etc. All that stuff makes a difference. 0 -

Thanks for the reply; but I run all that you mentioned, the camera was on a tripod as well so no movement at the port etc. I'd be interested to see if other 5Div users have the same thing.[quote="SFA" wrote:

I use that camera all the time and it works perfectly, all day, not even one disconnect, so what you were describing sounded like a hardware issue. The last time I remember having that issue was with a 5d mk3 and i was so frustrated I ended up wiping my driving and doing a clean install. That solved the problem. 0
