Never ending auto loading metadata (and proxies)

When did 7 come out? I have a disk with about 84000 images on it. (and about 6 more just like it) I CANNOT get a stable/usable catalog of this disk. everything will be running fine then I do something stupid like try to filter the images. C1 will hang (I've let it sit overnight and it is still hung) then I have to terminate C1 and from then on the catalog is crap. So I rebuild it which as you can guess is a two day job. then maybe I do something stupid like attempt to delete a user collection. Guess what - MAJOR hang again. So now I am trying to catalog only half a disk as a time. (about 42000 photos - or 14 catalogs). The days of my deluding myself into thinking I could ever have a catalog with all my images in it are over. Media pro could not do it, lightroom cant do it, C1 cant do it. But I C1 can barely handle a 2000 photo gallery.

So back to auto loading metadata - it has been running about 5 hours now and is still auto loading metadata. on image 387512 and rising - but remember I only have 42000 photos?????? it is also generating 36202 proxies. it says it will take 3 hours and 9 minutes to finish but it has already been running about 5 hours and says it has only done 463.

What bothers me most is that even after this is done I probably will end up with an unusable catalog.

I am sure I am not the only one - any suggestions?

Hi there,

I have experienced exactly same with a image set of 32000 when trying to scan my existing images into C1 v7 as a trial. After letting it hang longer time C1 ended up to count 108000 images! I had to close it, made everything from downloading once more and this time tryed to import Media Pro catalog as such (this i a new fearure in C1 v7). Nope, import was "complete" according to a displayed msg just after 1700 images imported. In spite of trials during last week end no success yet, so now, I am looking around something else...

Exactly the reasons (plus another) that I am only using sessions now.
MP is still my catalog.

Well I just woke up and auto loading is at 1294863 and proxies are at 12508 with 17 hours to go. I also have failed imports from MP and am forced to stick with sessions. Not to mention.... I have imported the same directory into C1 multiple times and it will find new photos it missed the first time.

MP is turtle slow but not this slow. I also have stability issues with MP and so have just been sitting on it for waiting for an update. I was really hoping c1p7 was that update. the best catalog I have tried so far is the Daminion Beta but it still doesn't offer any work with offline files.
