Activity monitor

I checked my activity monitor while running cap 6.3.2 on my 2011 dual processing 4 GB mac book pro and the Real Mem moved from under 1 GB all the way up to 4GB while cap was open but I wasn't doing anything on it.
When photoshop is open they both run very slowly....???

  Depending on the workflow 4GB is seen as a minimum for both Capture One and Photoshop, running them both at the same time would significantly effect performance in each.
