Image watermark size problem

I gave up on using Capture One's watermarking because of sizing problems like this, which I was assured was "by design", but still rendered the functionality unusable to me...

Why it can't be like Lightroom - set up a watermark, set the size, job done - is beyond me.

You can get more control over the final output size of the text in the watermark by also messing about with the font size in the font selection dialogue.

The workaround I found is to use lightroom after processing everything in CO 8 only to have my images correctly watermarked...

Could you start with a smaller version of your logo?

As long as text is used for watermarking I found that selecting an adequate font size is key for being able to control the watermark size for my most used output sizes from generally 1,800px on the longer side for Web until full pixel size for general use / printing.

Not able to check right now but one of the options for selecting the font size, pixel or points doesn't work well whereas the other option works just fine.

Edit: Checked it. II'm using Arial 72, Size is set to Pixels

I have the same experience although I normally use a slightly smaller nominal font size. However the sizing, for scaling purposes, needs to relate to the image size to allow for the expansion or compression required. There are limits to compression for example.

There is a similar sort of constraint if using a graphic. Expand it too much and it will look messy. There are limits to how far it will successfully compress. Therefore a bitmap editor used to scale the design for large size variations and then use the appropriate size for the output required makes sense. Or at least that is how things seem to work in my experiments.

I created a ticket for more control of watermarking and framing some time ago and the reply I got was "there's no interest for this" 😊
It's a shame we have to divert to other apps (Lightroom?!!!, Photoshop or FastStone) to get this done... but at least it's an option 😊

Wouldn't it be more productive for the discussion here to tell us what you'd like to do and what you're not able to achieve?

At least concerning text watermarks they can be positioned to everywhere on the image and being configured to needed size (font type / size and its scaling), colour, opacity. Ok, that far no tilts, no rotation with fonts - but this possibly can be done using an image as a watermark.

How about this for a start?

Or you could just do a search, Michael - text watermark issues aren't new (and indeed, you've joined in):

    viewtopic.php?f=57&t=18438&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=watermark

    viewtopic.php?f=55&t=18400&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=watermark
(This one raises one of my problems - differently-sized watermarks depending on the image orientation)

    viewtopic.php?f=57&t=17500&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=watermark

And my own main beef - the size of signature changing depending on whether or not the image is cropped:

These are all things that need to be fixed...

    WPNL:

Here is an image (I hope it will show up) with two different watermark types inserted, as an image and as text:

    http://g2.img-dpreview.com/5A1027D48ABE ... B8877C.jpg

    http://g1.img-dpreview.com/26201E370D95 ... CFDBE6.jpg

I've opted to insert them into the lower right corner but via the horizontal/vertical adjustments I'd could have placed them anywhere over the image.

Keith, sorry I don't get you. I wasn't searching for help concerning watermarks. I was just replying to the previous poster.

Edit: As images directly inserted they don't shou up so I changed them to links.
