Restoring a catalogue from a backup

So I set up a catalogue of all of my work and then copied it to dropbox so I could use it across multiple machines. I regularly backed up the catalogue.

I tried to open the catalogue on my desk top and it said I couldn't because it was being used elsewhere even though it wasn't as I had closed it on that machine.

I have now opened a backup file but I can't see how I can now save this as my main catalogue.

Any hel;p would be much appreciated.
