Lens distortion correction issue

I have to retract my previous observation. The distortion was not a result of correcting lens distortion.

I photographed a piece of graph paper with vertical and horizontal lines. The distortion tool, least for images that are 2-3 feet from the lens, functions as it should. It looks like the pincushion effect in the uncorrected image I selected had perspective distortions, easily corrected by the keystone correction tool with the lens distortion slider set to 100%. So, in this case the uncorrected pincushion distortion in the image compensated for the keystone effect, the latter of which was responsible for what appeared to be pincushion effect. Best to use the right tool when you need to square up an image.
