Edge Detection

I have a long wish list but just one for now . I would like to see edge detection like in Apple's Aperture. I have a photo of a Trestle bridge and would like to lighten all the wooden beams. Without edge detection this would take hours. Even when you have building against a bright sky edge detection would make masking so much faster.
