So version 4 PRO?
What ever happened to Version 4 PRO.? Am I the only one waiting for this?
Is it still "in the works"? I didn't see any post on this so I thought I would start one......

There have been many posts actually 😊
It is still in the works, and you will see it later this year.0 -
Of course we are all looking forward to the Pro version but will there be a bug fix release forth coming for the current software and is there any plans to add any new features?

Does anyone know which are the differences between C1 4 and the future-coming C1 4 PRO ? 0 -
Some coming features include but are not limited to:
-DSLR tethered support
-Sessions
-Color Editor
-Live Preview
-Advanced Styles
-Batch Rename
-Multiple simultaneous outputs
-Dual Monitor Support
-Moire tool
-Stitching
-More advanced Lens+ corrections
-User configurable short-cut keys
-Customizable layout
-More image adjustments0 -
Okay, thanks !
Looks really great...hopefully it does´t take long untill we can get our hands to it 😎
But I quess, that those lens-correction tools still work only with PhaseOne digital backs ?0 -

Is the Cpature One PRO listed at the E-Shop different from 4 PRO ?
Thanks.0 -
Yes, it is Capture One 3.x Pro 0 -
Thanks. 0 -
Will the capture one 4 pro have the " show overlay utility" just like the one on capture one DB (3.8 version)? 0 -
Sure hope so. They claim pro version to be available any day now... 0 -
I hope they also update C1-4 as well!
I would love the program but like many of you I hate that it creates directories in my picture libraries!!!!
Yes, I may 'upgrade' as well but I'm now a bit confused about their ability to meet customer expectations. Latest developments helped more users of PhaseOne hardware than others which are working with other equipment.
Some new features of the Pro version are again for some view (yes maybe professional) photographers but not for us normal users.0 -

I miss the stitcher!
Stitching is coming back in vastly improved form! It will not make the initial Pro release but will come down the line. Because we have passed the major development humps of the last year you will begin to see the faster development we have been promising with Capture One 4.0 -
I hope that list of features for Pro 4 is not exhaustive because there is no mention of IPTC/Metadata editing or which lenses (not interested in MF) will be supported .
If comprehensive IPTC isn't there I will go to a workflow that uses PhotoMechanic (can put structured keywords into RAW and more), Canon DPP (corrects all Canon lenses), Photoshop (cleaning and fine tuning) and Fotostation Pro (DAM and web page creation). I will be all Canon next year even for my holiday/go everywhere cameras.
I am waiting until next week's launch of C1 Pro 4 before laying out the $160 on PhotoMechanic.
I am giving PhaseOne the benefit of the doubt but C1 4 pro is desparately overdue ands they couldn't even get the forums live as scheduled (twice revised dates). I have been using Capture 1 since it was first available on the Canon Stand at Focus in February 2001 or 2. I would love to stay with it but my confidence is low for the many reasons raised here over the last 2-3 years.
PhaseOne - how about a definitive defintion of what will be in C1 Pro 4. You must know by now if it is to be availabe in 5 days, or is it going to be delayed again? You can e-mail me with publication embargoed until next week if you wish!

Sounds good. Thanks Jon! Will someone add a list of features/functions that are maybe not in the first V4 pro version but will be incorporated in the near future? It's frustrating to wait and wait and actually don't know if it's worth waiting because you finally are not going to incorporate what has been asked for.[quote="thomas" wrote:

Stitching is coming back in vastly improved form!
As you are still in development of the upcoming stitcher I'd like to suggest a feature request.
I use the lens cast captures not just to correct color shift in C1 but too I process the reference shots to tif and use them as masks in Photoshop to correct vignetting.
Usually I make 2 exposures: one for the correct exposure in the center and another, 1 to 2 stops slower, to have the edges brighter.
Then I blend both of the images in Photoshop and use the LCC-shots as masks. Works just perfect.
Would be a powerful feature if we could do it similar in the new stitcher: blending 2 different exposed shots to control vignetting (with or without the help of the white reference shots).
Makes sense?0 -
I hate the folders with .cop files - the waste so much disk space...
Will the new version still use .cop files?
How much will the upgrade cost?0 -

Hi Thomas,
Perhaps the simpler solution is for us to include vignetting correction tools?
Also, .cop files will not be changed as this is the new architecture. This has been the format of the mac software for years and allows files to be more easily transferred between computers or shared on a network.
The upgrade is free if you already have a Pro license.0 -
[quote="Jon" wrote:
Simpler, yes. But the trick would be to use the LCC shots as these represent EXACTLY the amount of vignetting. All existing vignetting tools are less than medicore compared to this. Too, I am talking of something like an "HDR" function in the stitcher so that we can blend shots from bracketing (a simple increase in luminance will add too much noise so in most cases - if possible - it's better to do bracketing... if not using a center filter).

*.cop files in principle are not the problem. Problem is the location of the *.cop files. Location should be user selectable! Or do you - for example - store and backup the previews? RAW files and settings in the same folder, *.cop files elsewhere...

The cache location basically doubles backup (and clean up) time for me!0 -
I have NO INTEREST in backing up my cache - complete waste of space.
I back up my RAW and my final jpgs after cleaning. The cache and my intermediate TIFs get thrown away. Now disk sizes are larger and cheaper I may store the cleaned TIF before creating my library jpg. But the whole cache is junk at that point - in most cases I only need it for a few hours.
If I have cause to reconvert then I will do it from scratch as my technique is improving all the time so I will do it differently/better - I am in the process of going back to some early images because I know I can now produce a better result.
A central cache or at least a Capture 1 cleanup facility is necessary.0 -

The location of the cop files is fine by me. The CaputureOne folder as subdirectory of the raw files makes common sense: they belong together. No sense to store the files somewhere else. I never backup the cop-files only the raw and the cos files (very small). If you want to clean up the cop files, simply write a .bat file with the line:
del *.cop /s
which deletes a of the cop files in the directory and all of its subdirectories.
On a backup drive of 500 MB this take 2 seconds to delete all of its .cop files.
Centralized catch makes it very difficult to orginize your backup's, esp. the .cos files with are very dear to me. A complete wedding with about 800 images will take me a day's work to adjust / delete / order the images.
The best PRO feature would be the introduction of project files in which you could store all your default settings (sharpening/ICC files), directories (input, output) for a particular project. It must be possible of course to create a new project based on a existing one.
Well... we see. The announced features looks very promising to me. I hope PO will have it bug free. That should be the best feature of all. 😊0 -

Workflow in V3x:
1. select captures by tagging them.
2. sort by tagged captures.
3. adjust tagged captures.
4. when finshed mark all tagged captures and go to menu "workflow" -> "settings of selected captures" -> "save to archive". By default the source (raw) folder will be selected. Click "okay" and the settings are copied to the raw-folder. Now you can backup the raw folder with the settings inside.
Better? Yes! Same result but you don't have to delete the *.cop files before.
Too, deleting all the *.cop files on the disk will delete *.cop files you actually don't want to delete yet. So this does not make too much sense to me.
What I do now... I copy the raw folder on the local disk, delete the *.cop files, then copy to external archive. Then delete the temporary copy on the local drive.
Might go easier. But this way it's save that I copy all I need. But it's annoying.
If anyone could describe an easy backup workflow for V4 (without deleting ALL *.cop files before!)... that would be fine.
Finally... what I like about the central cache for the previews... you can set it on heavy used drive on which you don't care so much about file fragmentation.0 -
Please ?
What about C1 4 pro with P30 and vista ?
I'am very very very angry !0 -

Just asked the support the same with regard to my P45. They told me a firmware upgrade will be made within the next 3-5 month.
So since Vista is out we are talking about 1.5 years for a firmware update. one and a half years! 😭0
